SYNOPSIS
À Paris, Mathieu mène une existence morne avec Sylvestre, son vieux chat, lorsque Mariya, son ancien amour ukrainienne, victimes des bombardements dans la ville de Mykolaïv, apparaît en boucle sur les chaînes d’info. Malgré les années et un caractère pusillanime, il trouve en lui la force de la recontacter, de traverser l’Europe en voiture et de la ramener en France avec sa fille Iryna.
Pour venger son mari, mort en soldat, Mariya décide de repartir au front, laissant malgré eux, la jeune adolescente à la charge de Mathieu. Gravement blessée, elle frôlera la mort.
Les péripéties de la guerre s’enchainent, à son retour ils se retrouveront en espérant des jours heureux, quand la guerre finira.
Une histoire d’amour bouleversante au cœur de l’actualité, ou sacrifice et quête de rédemption se mêlent au contexte d’un conflit dévastateur.
The Story:
In Paris, Mathieu leads a dull existence with Sylvestre, his old cat, when Mariya, his former Ukrainian love, victim of the bombardments in the town of Mykolaïv, appears on a loop on the news channels. Despite the years and his pusillanimous nature, he finds the strength in himself to contact her again, to drive across Europe and bring her back to France with his daughter Iryna.
To avenge her husband’s death as a soldier, Mariya decides to go back to the front, leaving the young teenager in Mathieu’s care. She is seriously wounded and nearly dies.
The ups and downs of war follow one another, and when she returns they will meet again, hoping for happy days when the war is over.
A moving love story at the heart of current affairs, where sacrifice and the quest for redemption mingle against the backdrop of a devastating conflict.
