The Story:

The Physician of Nineveh is a historical mystery/thriller novel about the timeless power of love. The story unfolds on two planes, present-day London and 7th century BCE Assyria, during the time of King Ashurbanipal, the architect of the amazing royal library of Nineveh.
Mannu-ki-Ashur, the Chief Physician of Nineveh, has loved Bel-ibni from afar since childhood, but as the King’s favorite concubine, she can never be his. When Bel becomes seriously ill with an infection, none of Mannu’s medicines or the magic spells and rituals of the exorcists and diviners help her. Nobody knows she was deliberately poisoned by the King’s Chief Eunuch acting in consort with the King’s son, who believes her child will usurp his primacy. Desperate to save her, Mannu uses forbidden magic from before the Great Flood to send him to a time and place where he might find a cure.

Kate Mayne is a lecturer in Assyriology at the Institute of Archaeology in London. She’s an expert in Akkadian, one of the few people in the world who can speak the ancient cuneiform language fluently. Kate is on the mend from a broken relationship when a mysterious man, claiming to be a physician from a city that hasn’t existed for over two millennia, comes into her life. When Kate discovers irrefutable evidence that Mannu is who he claims to be, she decides to help him. But during their dangerous quest to find a cure for Bel, Kate and Mannu discover a love so powerful it transcends the bounds of time.

The Physician of Nineveh is a meticulously researched novel about a fascinating Middle Eastern civilization many readers will discover for the first time. I’ve drawn on my background in archaeology and medicine and my knowledge of London to craft a story accurate on every page. Its strong romantic elements will skew the book toward women, but all readers will be satisfied by an unambiguously uplifting ending.

The Story:

A brilliant neuroscientist, obsessed with death since his own near-death experience as a child, resorts to drastic measures to prove the existence of the afterlife.

The present day.

It’s the biggest crisis the world has ever seen. Bewildered, young and old, believers and atheists are all asking the same agonising questions: what will they do now that humanity’s greatest dream has become reality? What will happen when the countdown reaches zero?

Boston, a few months earlier. It’s the most complex investigation Cyrus O’Malley has ever conducted. For the umpteenth time, the FBI special agent looks at photos of the victims and wonders why the serial killer drilled a tiny hole in their skulls after strangling them. For Cyrus, the case becomes an obsession. To solve it, he is forced to give up everything he holds dear.

England, 1988.

It’s the most overwhelming feeling Alex Weller has ever experienced. In ecstasy, at the tipping point between life and death, the boy sees a river of light flowing past him, and on the other side is his father, joyfully urging him to join him. But Alex can’t move, and suddenly he’s back at the site of the terrible car accident that killed his parents. Ever since, Alex has had only one goal: to understand and relive that experience.

Even if he has to kill.

The Story:

When, just two years after his election, Pope John XXIV was found dead in his bed, the Vatican quickly had to overcome its perplexity and organise a new conclave. On the opening day, after the traditional procession of the cardinal electors, the Extra omnes was sanctioned and the doors were closed. In the afternoon, the faithful awaited the result of the first vote, but the hours passed and no smoke came out of the chimney on which thousands of cameras, neither black nor white, were focused. Caught between the obligations of the ceremonial and a growing sense of anxiety, Secretary of State Elisabetta Celestino decided to perform an unprecedented act: breaking the seal of the conclave and opening the doors. And the scene before him is surreal. The Sistine Chapel was empty. The cardinal electors had disappeared into thin air.
Arriving at the Vatican as a CNN contributor to comment on the conclave, Cal Donovan immediately joined the investigation into this seemingly impossible disappearance. And, as the world waits with bated breath for news, Cal gradually realises to his horror that this is just the latest piece in a plan hatched by a group of powerful and determined people, people who have been plotting in the shadows for eight centuries to wash the sins of the Church in blood and rebuild it from the foundations up…
